About SHATAYU

Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training for Your Utility – The national live repository mapping skill-certified geriatric caregivers across India.

Initiative Overview

Supporting Our Senior Citizens

With changing demographic structures, India is witnessing a progressive and steady rise in its elderly population. Ensuring a dignified, secure, and physically supportive ecosystem for senior citizens requires a specialized, compassionate, and formally qualified workforce. To seamlessly bridge the structural gap between certified geriatric care professionals and families seeking dependable care, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, has launched SHATAYU.

The “SHATAYU” (Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training For Your Utility) Dashboard was launched during the National Workshop on “Creating a Well-Functioning Care Economy”, on 22nd May, 2026 to make care services for senior citizens across the country more accessible, effective, and streamlined. This dashboard will provide information on trained elderly caregivers (Geriatric Caregivers) available in various states and districts nationwide, thereby facilitating better care and support services for senior citizens. Developed with a simple workflow and user-friendly interface, the purpose of this platform is to ensure easy access to services. ‘SHATAYU’ functions as a centralized, transparent national Geriatric Caregiver Dashboard and Directory. It operates as an unmediated link connecting individual citizens directly with professionally trained, certified and geographically mapped geriatric caregivers across various states and districts throughout India.

Core Institutional Objectives
  • Empowering Senior Citizens: Providing localized, rapid access to standardized, high-quality home and institutional geriatric care.
  • National Unified Directory:Hosting a verified, easily sortable live database of certified caregivers categorized by exact location, gender, and training competencies.
  • Direct Framework Intermediation:Enabling an OTP-authenticated, spam-free request ecosystem that allows localized training hubs to step in and facilitate immediate support requests.
  • Formal Career Recognition:Supplying visibility, structure, and formal career placement opportunities to skill-certified professionals trained under national institutional frameworks.

The SHATAYU (Senior Holistic Care Assistance and Training for Your Utility) dashborad is a centralized digital initiative by the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment. Its core objective is to map certified geriatric caregivers across the country, providing senior citizens and their families with transparent, localized, and direct access to high-quality elderly care and generate employment.

The dashboard is a free public utility accessible to all Indian citizens seeking professional caregiving services. It can be utilized by individual family members, senior citizens themselves, or healthcare institutions looking for trained geriatric care assistants.

The credentials, curriculum, and training of the listed caregivers are governed by the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship

It addresses India's changing demographic needs by building a formalized, visible, and structured marketplace for elderly care. It simultaneously creates organized employment pathways for skill-certified youths while ensuring seniors receive dignified, specialized care.

No. Searching the directory, interacting with the analytical dashboard, and placing a "Callback Request" are entirely free public services provided by the Government of India.

On the dashboard’s homepage, navigate to the Caregiver Directory section. Use the drop-down menus to filter by your specific State/Union Territory and District. The system will instantly populate a list of matching, localized certified profiles.

Yes. The dashboard tracks and filters caregivers by gender (Male, Female, and Transgender) to ensure families can find a professional with whom their elderly relative feels most comfortable.

If you need assistance finding a caregiver, you can fill out a simple request form on the dashboard. You provide the location, the type of care needed, and your contact details. Once verified via a mobile One-Time Password (OTP), your request is automatically routed to localized training hubs or available caregivers in your district to contact you directly.

Yes. When submitting your service requirements via the "Callback Request" interface, you can specify that your situation requires 24/7 Live-in Care. This ensures your request is channeled exclusively to professionals equipped for full-time domestic or institutional residency.

You can choose from various tailored categories depending on the senior citizen's health requirements:
  • General Geriatric Care
  • Post-Surgical Care
  • Dementia / Alzheimer's Care
  • Physiotherapy / Mobility Assistance
  • Palliative Care
  • 24/7 Live-in Care
  • Other / General Care

While the dashboard strictly hosts professionals holding authenticated NISD or NSDC qualifications, the official disclaimer states that the secondary background screening, address checks, and reference cross-matching must be conducted independently by the hiring family or institution prior to deployment.

The dashboard does not dictate commercial rates or service fees. Financial remuneration terms, working hours, and leave schedules are to be discussed and settled independently between the hiring family/facility and the caregiver or their training node.

Any case of professional misconduct or ethical breach should be reported immediately to the local police authorities (if criminal in nature) and escalated via the dashboard's feedback/grievance mechanism so that administrative training nodes can review and potentially delist the individual's profile.

Profiles are aggregated directly from institutional training frameworks like the NISD and NSDC. If you have completed a certified geriatric care course under these bodies, your data is automatically synced into the registry. If your profile is missing, contact your respective training institute or center head.

The platform segments caregivers based on four core institutional tracks:
  • Geriatric Care Provider: Advanced holistic care, basic physiological monitoring, and emergency handling.
  • Geriatric Caregiver (Institutional & Home Care): Bedside mobility, daily life assistance, and routine hygiene mapping.
  • Wellness Therapist for the Elderly: Therapeutic rehab, cognitive engagement, and healthy-ageing therapies.
  • Elderly Care Companion: Non-medical emotional companionship, psychological mapping, and social integration.

Caregivers must request updates through their certifying training center or use the specialized login dashboard (if provisioned) to update their current operational status, contact number, or district availability.

The One-Time Password (OTP) verification layer ensures that the phone number provided is valid, active, and belongs to a genuine seeker. This protects listed caregivers and training centers from spam, fraudulent requests, or prank calls.

Yes, the dashboard operates under strict government cybersecurity and data privacy regulations. Your data is encrypted and only shared with the relevant, authorized local training centers or verified caregivers assigned to respond to your specific callback request.

Ensure you have a stable internet connection and try clearing your browser cache. The SHATAYU dashboard is optimized for both desktop and mobile web browsers. If the issue persists, it may be due to temporary server sync, and you should try again after a brief interval.

The database is updated periodically as fresh batches of students graduate and complete their assessments through the NISD and NSDC authorized centers across various states, ensuring users have access to an active and expanding talent pool.
